About Andrea

BiographyBiography:AAA2

At the age of five, I was a German immigrant to Helena, Montana. I graduated from Helena Senior High School. At the University of Montana I studied art and costuming and worked in the U of M Drama Department as a Design Assistant and Costumer.  After college, she became a preschool teacher, taught art and painted wall murals in the classrooms.

Currently she is a full time artist and part time bookkeeper. She has a successful business called, “Atwood Arts.” Her business takes on challenging commission artwork ranging from large art/business banners and flags, designing/patterning costumes or unique clothing, designing/painting commercial business signs, murals, oil painting, portraits and watercolors.

She is currently a member of the Crafty Crafters, and the Helena Quilt Guild. Andrea has donated her art to support animals causes such as Montana Grizzly Encounter, the Lewis and Clark Humane Society, and the Mikal Kellner Wildlife Foundation for Animals.

Her paintings and fiber art may be viewed at the Historical Society Museum Store, Atwood Accounting Services, the Allegro Dance Studio, and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Artist StatementAAA2

I create art because simple everyday items like fabric, leaves, canvas, jewels or glass show me that they aspire to become something else – something of worth and beauty.  I am only the craftsman who works out the details of their transformation.
